Dwayne Johnson Breaks Silence on Black Adam’s Future in the DC Universe

Dwayne Johnson has opened up about the future of Black Adam after making his first appearance as the bad-slash-good guy earlier this year. Johnson released a statement on his addition to the DC Universe following controversy around James Gunn’s appointment to co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios. Johnson and Gunn have connected after Gunn’s new role and Johnson learned that Black Adam would not have a part to play in Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran’s ‘first chapter of storytelling’. However, Johnson assured that his adventures aren’t over yet as DC and Johnson’s production company Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters. Johnson also expressed his pride in Black Adam and his gratitude for the fan reaction. Gunn responded to Johnson’s statement to show support for the actor and expressed excitement to collaborate soon.

Dwayne Johnson has broken his silence on the future of Black Adam in the DC Universe, following the controversy surrounding James Gunn’s appointment as co-chair and co-CEO of DC Studios.

In a statement shared on Twitter last night (20 December), Johnson revealed that he and Gunn had ‘connected’ after the Guardians of the Galaxy director took on the role, and he learned that Black Adam would not have a part to play in Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran’s ‘first chapter of storytelling’.

However, Johnson assured fans that his adventures aren’t over yet, as he and DC have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters.

The actor also expressed his ‘tremendous gratitude, humility and love’ for the fan reaction to Black Adam, which was 15 years in the making.

Johnson’s statement came after he previously revealed he was among those fighting for Henry Cavill to make a comeback as Superman, following Cavill’s announcement that his cameo in Black Adam was ‘a very small taste of things to come’.

Gunn responded to Johnson’s statement last night to show support for the actor, writing: “Love @TheRock & I’m always excited to see what he & Seven Bucks do next. Can’t wait to collaborate soon.”
