Jordan Turpin: From House of Horrors to Social Media Star

Jordan Turpin’s story is one of survival, perseverance, and triumph. Despite growing up in a harsh and isolated environment, Jordan has turned her life around and become a public figure, social media star, and model. Here is a closer look at her incredible journey.

Jordan grew up in a cruel and isolated environment in Perris, California, with her 12 siblings. Her parents, David and Louise Turpin, kept the children shackled, starved and beaten, and only allowed them one bath or shower a year. Jordan escaped at the age of 17 after discovering Justin Bieber’s music online, and it took her two years to plan her escape.

After escaping from her abusive parents, Jordan and her siblings were placed in separate foster homes where some of them experienced further abuse. During the pandemic lockdowns, her claustrophobia worsened, but TikTok became her outlet for self-expression and education. She gained a large following and was eventually interviewed by Diane Sawyer for 20/20, which led to various agency deals and her own apartment. Jordan continues to use social media to raise awareness about the issues she has faced and connect with her fans. Despite her success, she still struggles with her past and cries most days.

Jordan and Jennifer Turpin spoke publicly about their experiences in an interview with Diane Sawyer in 2021. Jordan aspires to be a motivational speaker, writer, and foster care advocate, hoping to use her voice to improve the foster care system and help children in bad situations.

In 2018, Jordan escaped from her home and reported to authorities that her parents had been holding her and her siblings captive and physically abusing them. The authorities arrived at the Turpin residence and found the 12 malnourished victims in filthy conditions, some of whom were tied to their beds. David and Louise Turpin were sentenced to life in prison for their crimes. Six of the siblings, including Jordan, were placed in foster care, where they allegedly experienced further abuse.

Jordan is signed with a top modeling agency and major Hollywood publicity and communications firms, and she continues to build her career focused on outreach. Despite her difficult past, she is now a TikTok star with more than 925,000 followers. She posts videos of herself dancing and mouthing along to a trending song, and attends charity events and walks the red carpet at movie premieres. Jordan’s success shows that no matter how difficult life can be, there is always a way to overcome the past and create a better future.
